I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends filled with laughter, joy, and peace. My family’s routine was extremely different over the last two weeks, so, keep us in your thoughts as we return to work, school, and Reid’s MMO program. My husband made it home a few days early from his TDY, my folks came into town, and my brother and his family popped in on us. So, a lot of different people were in and out of our home.

In the past, it has been common for me to move into the new year with a well-developed plan. But that won’t be the case this year, because I don’t feel like it. Over the last five years, I’ve adopted the one-word method to guide me throughout the year, and as we transition back into our regular scheduled program, I’m going to do so with my one-word in mind.

Ease

This year I’m looking forward to experiencing mental ease, emotional ease, physical ease, relational ease, financial ease, and spiritual ease. As you move into 2024 I hope it’s done in the way you want and choose.

As I ease into the new year, I will do so with the help of affirmations. Affirmations can be beneficial in several ways. They can be sweet little reminders, anchors of hope, or a reality check when unhelpful thoughts consume us. So, over the next few days, I encourage you to find 1-2 affirmations you want to take into the new year. As you decide which words or phrases resonate the most with you, keep these three tips in mind.

  1. Personalize: Creating your own affirmation ensures that you give your mind exactly what it needs. However, if you’re having difficulty find a song lyric, quote from Pinterest, or phrase from a television show that speaks to you.
  2. Visible: Affirmations are only helpful if you remember to say them. If you need a little reminder, keep your affirmations where you can see them. In your journal, on your nightstand, written on your bathroom mirror, refrigerator, or a sticky note in your car.
  3. Daily: Consistency is key and can go a long way, so say your affirmation(s) every day. On the days you really need it, you’ll be happy you did.

So, as I ease into the new year, I’ll embody the sweet little reminders from my affirmations.

I’m excited about taking my time and easing into this space, and I wish the same for you.

Until next year…
