Mindfulness is being present in the moment; therefore, regardless of what activity you’re doing, as long as you are trying to stay present in the moment, you are practicing mindfulness. Whether you are returning home from having your baby, juggling summer activities, or between vacations, it is essential to find moments to pause.

  • Moment of silence: Take a moment to recite your favorite affirmation, phrase, pray, or name one thing you are thankful for before leaving your home or on your way back from your destination
  • Breathe: Your breath is with you any and everywhere. Breathe in… then out
  • Stoplight or sign: Say your favorite affirmation or something you’re thankful for every time you come to a stop light or stop sign
  • Nature: Focus on your surroundings. The sunrise, trees, snow, mountains, or whatever you see

Our lives can be extremely busy, so it is time to get creative if you are on the go.

July is another mental health awareness month as it is Minority Mental Health Month, and the week of July 19-25th is Black Maternal Mental Health Week. Even though mental health is a top priority in this space, I encourage you to take the walk, find a moment to pause, laugh, read, or cry if that is what you need for your mental wellness.

Success! You're on the list.
